Structural Cardboard Chair

Project Overview

Client: Team 305, University of Manitoba Engineering

Project: Structural Cardboard Chair

Service: Engineering Design & Prototyping

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Manufacturing: Structural analysis, prototyping, testing and laser-cut fabrication

Constraints: Limited corrugated cardboard surface area; glue stick adhesive only

Designed to Perform

Dynamic3D developed this structural cardboard chair for a university engineering team working within strict material, size, assembly and load-bearing constraints.

The design focused on strength, material efficiency, portability and ease of assembly. Multiple iterations were evaluated through digital analysis and physical testing before the final structure was produced and validated.

Full-scale structural cardboard chair engineering prototype developed by Dynamic3D

The Finished Model

The completed chair brought the structural concept into a full-scale physical prototype, combining strength, material efficiency, portability and fast assembly within the project constraints.

The final design was produced from corrugated cardboard and refined to balance performance with a lightweight, compact structure suitable for testing and presentation.
